XR Commandment #3 - Make It Simple and Accessible

3️⃣ Third post in this series on the "10 XR Commandments," the number 3 is all about simplicity.
XR projects often have the image of being complex to realize and, consequently, expensive. However, this is not at all the case; often, straightforward, one-step experiences are very effective in delivering value to both the user and the brand.
Remember: even though XR has become more mainstream in recent years, most people's experience with it is minimal or, if it exists, limited to Snapchat filters or playing Beat Saber in the Meta Quest once for 5 minutes. Therefore, even a simple activation can be impactful and still deliver value if correctly designed. And it won't be expensive! It will allow you to engage your users with an accessible interactive experience.
Two examples of effective executions. With the recent Tokyo Series, MLB superstar Shohei Ohtani was an influencer for brands even more than usual. At Decorté's popup store, the AR photo call is super simple. Scan a QR code, point it to your friend, or ask the brand ambassador to take it for you, and done: you have your selfie with a virtual Ohtani.
In conjunction with their Popup Store at Shibuya, Sekkisei created a very accessible AR activation: scan the QR code, point it at the giant ad poster, and here you go—a video of Ohtani throwing the product at you.
The recipe is simple: one step, quickly done, with a branded picture as a takeaway. Done.
Reversal: Of course, if the activation is more permanent, if XR is the main component of the experience, for industrial or cultural usages, or if your target audience is "all-in" people who will spend a lot of time interacting, going into more complex scenarios can be necessary!
Do you have a brand activation you're planning to do soon? Let's discuss ways to add a simple XR layer!
