CIDB Malaysia - CITP Launch at International Construction Week

CIDB Malaysia launched the Construction Industry Transformation Programme, the national masterplan for the country's construction sector, at International Construction Week 2015 in Kuala Lumpur. The launch was a stage ceremony led by the Prime Minister, and the brief was to make the programme's content appear alongside the speakers in real time rather than as a video roll-in.

Two cameras covering a T-shaped stage fed a live compositing system that placed 3D content into the camera image, shown on two LED walls measuring 6.6 metres wide and two projection screens. The sequence brought Malaysian infrastructure onto the stage as the speakers referred to it: the Petronas Towers, the Penang bridge, an MRT train, the Bintulu plant, an aircraft, and rotating 3D blocks carrying the programme's pillars. A virtual Malayan tiger walked the stage with the speakers as the ceremony's mascot.

Timing was the constraint. Every cue had to land on a line in a scripted ministerial address with no second take, so the run of show was rehearsed and rewritten against what the system could hit reliably. We built the 3D content and the live compositing application, and ran it on site in Kuala Lumpur.
